At its September meeting, the ACGME Review Committee for Internal Medicine granted initial accreditation to the Harnett Health Internal Medicine residency program. This means that along with recruiting DO residents under the AOA accreditation, the internal medicine program can also recruit MD residents as well. This accreditation is part of a national single accreditation system that is merging residency accreditation standards among DO and MD trained resident physicians by 2020.
In May, the Internal Medicine residency program will graduate its first class of residents: Felix Ajuonuma DO, Briana Mayhew DO., Caleb Richards DO, Timothy Stuart DO and Yamama Hafeez DO.
Along with Internal Medicine, the Transitional Year residency program will graduate its third class of residents: Jeanna Ashman Stover DO, Brian Christensen DO, Chelsea Donathan DO, Joshua Fullmer DO, Geoffrey Luecker DO, Kevin Mathew DO, Jayson Osborn DO, Mandie Pierce DO, Sarah Rodriguez Sawao DO, Joshua Russell DO, Joseph Shortall DO and Stephen Toth DO.
